Personal Development Tools
Discover Your Level of Influence!
The world is changing rapidly. As Daniel Priestly in his excellent book ‘Key Person of Influence’ says – success has traditionally come from the number of people who know, like and trust you. Those who are looking to make their mark on the world, be recognised and sought after in the future, are those who are seen as thought leaders in their subject; those who can influence and innovate.
To discover your current level as an influencer and understand how you can increase your presence in this area take the scorecard test.
Recruitment Without Bias!
Understanding our own biases is a critical part of self-development and, for anyone involved in recruitment it is essential that we seek to overcome unconscious biases so that we make the right hires. Harvard University have created an on-line implicit bias test that is very revealing, and the results may well surprise you.
Improve Your Leadership Ability!
One of the key traits looked for when promoting people into Leadership positions today is emotional intelligence or EQ. In-fact EQ is rated higher than IQ when determining whether someone will be successful. Daniel Goleman has written some fantastic books on the subject and has worked with Richard Boyatzis and Hay Group to develop an Emotional and Social Competence Inventory.
Whilst this is likely to be the most rigorous and insightful test available, the Institute for Health and Human Potential have developed a free online test that I take at intervals to test my own development in this area.
Barrat Values Centre
Understand Your Driving Values!
Our values represent who we are and what is inherently important to us. Many people don’t take the time to consider what their values are or whether they are living in line with their values. This can cause us to choose the wrong careers, organisations, partners, friends.
Unless we align our values with our choices we are unlikely to find the success or happiness that we deserve, hence so many organisations now look for candidates whose value specifically match with their own. There are a number of tests out there, but I have found the attached test from the Barrett Values Centre to be very insightful.

HR Management Tools
People HR Software
People® was built by a compact team of HR veterans who had spent most of their career in Human Resources and HR software. People® was designed to help progressive HR professionals take advantage of modern technology, and make a meaningful impact on the success of their organisation.
At People, our employees work in what we call a ‘Culture of Innovation’. This incredibly creative approach to working has brought us some of the best ideas we’ve ever seen, and we’re proud of what we’ve built. It all started with our company philosophy, which is clearly outlined in our employee handbook.
Work collaboratively and get more done!
Trello’s boards, lists, and cards enable you to organize and prioritize your projects in a fun, flexible, and rewarding way.
For many small businesses or business start-ups business goals are often left un-tackled as ‘business as usual’ takes priority. Unless actions are agreed to move the business towards achieving these goals and unless these are tracked and monitored, the likelihood of a business moving forwards are slim. Trello is a great on-line project management tool (with a free version) that allows small business owners to chunk goals into actions that can be tracked, monitored and assigned to others. It has certainly helped me to progress my business and stay on track with client work.
Boomerang For Outlook
Schedule & track emails!
How many times have you been working through your emails late at night or over the weekend, but you’re conscious that it doesn’t look so good sending an email at this time. Did you know you can schedule your emails to be sent at a different time? In Outlook, when composing your message, click in the box with the arrow from the Tags group. Under Delivery options select ‘do not deliver before’. Click the delivery date and time that you want. Click close and then hit send. The email will remain in your outbox until the delivery time.
Alternatively, you could consider the Boomerang App (available for Outlook and g-mail). The App has free and paid options and not only allows you to schedule emails but also get a reminder if you don’t receive a response within the timeline you set. The Pro version also allows you to share your real time availability and for your recipient to schedule meetings directly in your diary.
